For 15 years, the Salvos Sleep Out has kept the vital Street to Home assertive outreach program running in Tasmania.

As the number of Tasmanians experiencing homelessness continues to increase, the work of the Street to Home program is even more important. This is why The Salvation Army is calling on Tasmanian business, community, and government leaders to act and get involved with the Salvos Sleep Out in 2024.

Participants will spend a night away from the comfort of their own bed and hear firsthand about the challenges of homelessness from Salvos outreach workers and people with a lived experience. They will discuss supports and possible solutions, and importantly raise funds to help make an immediate difference.

The Salvos Sleep Out will be held at the Penny Royal Launceston on Thursday 1 August and at the Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart on Thursday 29 August. Across the state, the Salvos Sleep Out aims to raise $150,000 to help keep the Street to Home program operating for another year.

Sleep Out: Participants learn more about the issue of homelessness and demonstrate their support by spending a night sleeping out.

Make a Difference: The Salvos Sleep Out raises funds to provide people experiencing homelessness with practical support.

Increase Awareness: The event helps drive community discussion and encourage positive and meaningful change.
