How are the new CBD parking machines different?
The new parking machines accept coins or VISA and Mastercard cards.
How do officers know I have paid for parking on the new machines?
When you enter your vehicle's registration to pay for parking, the officer's device shows if there has been a valid payment against your registration number. This makes it important to ensure you are entering your correct registration number when paying and not a machine or bay number as was previously the case.
Do I still need to enter my parking bay number?
No, when using the new machines you only need to enter your vehicle's number plate.
Do I have to use the machine closest to my vehicle?
No. You can use any machine - on either side of the street - in the block where you have parked, even if it is across the road. You cannot, however, use a machine around the corner or in another street.
Do I need to display a ticket when using the new CBD on-street machines?
No, the new on-street machines offer the option of printing a receipt for tax purposes, but there is no need to display this on your windshield.
I prefer to use the EasyPark app. Can I use the app instead?
Yes, EasyPark is still available across every on-street parking machine. EasyPark zones can be found on the machine and street signs at the entry and exit to the zone or by using the location services on the EasyPark app. Please remember to confirm your registration is correct and that you are in the right zone before making payment.
How are the machines powered?
The machines operate on solar panels which only require very low light levels, even when shadowed by neighbouring buildings. The panels have been developed to operate in low lighting areas, drawing enough energy from ambient light to maintain their batteries. They also draw energy from street lighting overnight.
Do the new machines have touchscreens?
No, there is a keypad below the screen.
