Tasmania is fast becoming known for its world-class mountain bike facilities, so it's no surprise Launceston and surrounds feature plenty of trails for riders of all levels.

Trails

Trevallyn Nature Recreation Area Mountain Bike Trails

The Trevallyn Nature Recreation Area features eight kilometres of outstanding purpose-built, single track stretching from Gorge Road to the Hoo Hoo Hut. For the more experienced riders, check out the other multi-use tracks in the area. 

The state-owned reserve is located on the South Esk River, just four kilometres from the centre of Launceston. Part of the South Esk River gorge and the adjacent plateau country are features of the 440 hectare reserve. Boundaries are shared with the popular Cataract Gorge Reserve, managed by the City of Launceston.

Along with mountain bike trails, the reserve offers walking tracks, horse trails, rock climbing and windsurfing and orienteering facilities.

Kate Reed Reserve Nature Recreation Area Mountain Bike Trails

A 15 kilometre network of tracks in a terrific bush setting has made Kate Reed Reserve a must-do for mountain bike enthusiasts.

Owned and managed by the State Government, the Reserve is just 10 minutes from Launceston's CBD and offers some fantastic unsealed trails as well as walking and dog walking facilities. 

Duck-boarded tracks make it great for beginners and families, while there remains plenty of opportunity for more experienced riders to flex their muscles.

Hollybank Reserve Mountain Bike Trails

20 kilometres of tracks weaving their way through forest settings suitable for beginner and advanced riders make Hollybank a must-visit destination for keen mountain bike riders. 

Located 20 minutes from Launceston, Hollybank offers family friendly tracks, a skills area with a pump track and jump tracks.

Hollybank offers trails at multiple levels, starting with a green trail and climbing to double-black diamond runs. Hollybank's pinnacle trail, Juggernaut has to be ridden to be believed.

Launceston Mountain Bike Club

The Launceston Mountain Bike Club (LMBC) is a non-profit club established to serve the needs of Mountain Bike riders in the greater Launceston area and to further develop interest in all facets of this fast growing sport.

The club holds weekly XC twilight races during the summer months as well as various events throughout the year,plus social rides and skills days.
