Plastics recycling gathers steam in Northern Tasmania

The Northern Tasmanian Waste Management Group has today announced nine successful applicants in its Resource Recovery and Waste Minimisation Grants Program.

One of the successful applicants is Launceston College's innovative 'STEAM NGN' facility, which intends to use the funding to set up a small-scale plastics recycling depot, creating filament to feed its 3D printers.

The STEAM NGN allows students to gain practical knowledge in a range of fields from app and website design, to t-shirt printing and laser cutting, with the state-of-the-art facility making extensive use of 3D printers.

Launceston College Advanced Skills Teacher Kent Poulton will be available for comment today, Friday December 8, at 11am at the Launceston College STEAM NGN, 93 Paterson Street.
