Lilydale Swimming Pool ready for summer season
Published on 28 November 2024
The City of Launceston will open the Lilydale Swimming Pool for the summer season this Saturday, November 30.
Lifeguards from the City of Launceston Leisure & Aquatic Centre will supervise the pool, which will be open daily between 2pm and 6pm.
Entry is free.
When school returns for Term 1 in February, the Lilydale Swimming Pool will be open between 3pm and 6pm on weekdays only.
City of Launceston Mayor Matthew Garwood said the Lilydale Swimming Pool was an important community asset.
"The City of Launceston maintains a number of swimming facilities on behalf of the Northern Tasmanian community, including the ever popular City of Launceston Leisure & Aquatic Centre, and free swimming options like the First Basin Swimming Pool and Lilydale Swimming Pool," Mayor Garwood said.
"We've undertaken a range of maintenance and improvement works at the Lilydale Swimming Pool ahead of the reopening this year, including repair works to the toddler pool. "No matter where you swim this summer, be conscious of your safety and the safety of those around you.
"Please obey the directions of our lifeguards, who are working to keep everyone safe.
"Remember that alcohol and water never mix. Keep children six years and under within arms' reach, and actively supervise children under eleven.
"If you're at a privately-owned pool or a river swimming hole, remember children need constant supervision. Never assume someone else is supervising your children.
"Swimming is an extremely popular past time in Launceston, and we hope everyone dives into a fun and safe summer in the water."
