Kids invited to decorate Launceston

Launceston children are being invited to sprinkle Christmas magic across the city through the power of art.
The City of Launceston is calling for young artists to submit A4 sized drawings showing what Christmas means to them.
A selection of drawings will be collated and transformed into decorative Christmas installations in Launceston's CBD, ahead of the official lighting of the tree in the Brisbane St Mall on Friday, November 24.
City of Launceston Mayor Matthew Garwood said he hoped the initiative, dubbed 'Deck the Malls', would inspire children to help spread the magic of Christmas throughout the city.
"Deck the Malls is an opportunity for the city's young people to directly contribute to the festive spirit in our CBD," Mayor Garwood said.
"By submitting a drawing that celebrates Christmas, they have the chance to see that drawing transformed into purpose-built Christmas decorations in the city.
"Children of all ages and abilities living in Northern Tasmania are invited to take part, and drawings can be submitted online or in person."
Drawings for Deck the Malls can be delivered to the City of Launceston's Customer Service desk at Town Hall, or online with submissions closing on Friday, 1st December.
