The theme of this year's competition was 'we are champions of our heritage.'

City of Launceston Mayor Matthew Garwood said Heritage Sketch was an evolution of the popular Heritage Snap! photography competition, which the Council ran for nearly a decade.

"Heritage Sketch is a natural next step for this competition, which is designed to raise the profile of the heritage across Launceston and to tell stories about our past," Mayor Garwood said.

"Whether it's the iconic Cataract Gorge, the historic architecture of the CBD, the welcoming parks, or the hidden gems that make Launceston unique, we challenged Launceston students to showcase the essence of what makes our community truly special through art.

"There were some incredible submissions, and it was great to celebrate with the winners this afternoon."
