Fuel reduction burn at Distillery Creek
Published on 07 April 2022
If forecast weather conditions remain favourable, the City of Launceston will tomorrow undertake a fuel reduction burn at Distillery Creek.
This is one of 12 sites we've identified for fuel reduction burns as part of our 2022 program.
Detailed operational plans have been prepared for each burn including risk assessments and smoke modelling and dispersion.
While fire intensity is expected to be low, the burn will generate flames, smoke and ash which may persist until the next rainfall event.
People with medical conditions are advised to have a personal plan for avoiding smoke from the burn.
Advice is available from the Department of Health and Human Services website or Asthma Foundation of Tasmania's website.
Notifications of scheduled burns will continue to be updated on the Tasmania Fire Service website, as well as the City of Launceston's website.
