Father's Day Memorial Service to be held at Carr Villa

Father’s Day is a day to celebrate the dads, father figures and mentors in our lives. However, for anyone grieving, separated from, or missing their dad it can be a very challenging time.

On Friday, September 2, the Carr Villa Memorial Park will host a Father's Day Memorial Service at the facility's Chapel and members of the Northern Tasmanian community are invited to attend.

The service will be non-religious and will offer those attending an opportunity to reflect and remember those fathers, grandfathers and father figures who may no longer be with us.

Launceston Mayor Albert van Zetten said he hoped the service would bring comfort to families and individuals who had experienced the loss of a father.

"Losing a parent can be an enormously difficult and challenging experience for people," Mayor van Zetten said.

"I know this from personal experience. My father had a very big influence on my life, he taught me so many things and was a constant support for me.

"We wanted to offer this Memorial Service as a way for people who have experienced the loss of a father to have somewhere to come in the lead-up to Father's Day and to be with others who have been through a similar experience.

"We hope it will be a celebration of the impact fathers have had on our lives and a chance to reflect in a positive way on the paternal relationships that have made us who we are."

The Carr Villa Memorial Park's Father's Day Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 2, from 10am at the facility's chapel, accessed of Quarantine Road. To register your attendance please call 03 6323 3600, as space is limited.
