Easter and Anzac Day parking - What you need to know

The City of Launceston is making it easier for residents and visitors to enjoy the CBD and surrounds this Easter and Anzac Day with free parking available in many council-managed car parks on key public holidays.

Free parking will be offered in all on-street metered spaces and the following council-managed ground-level off-street car parks on Good Friday (April 18), Easter Monday (April 21), Easter Tuesday (April 22), and Anzac Day (April 25):

• Cataract Gorge Reserve Basin Car Park

• Bathurst Street Car Park

• Cimitiere-Cameron Street Car Park

• Home Point Parade Car Park

• Park Street Car Park

• River’s Edge Seaport Car Park

• Royal Park Home Point Car Park

• York Street West Car Park

• Inveresk Car Park

• Leisure and Aquatic Centre Car Park

However, motorists are reminded that not all car parks in Launceston are managed by the City of Launceston.

Private car park operators may still charge fees during these periods, so drivers are encouraged to check signage carefully to avoid unexpected costs.

The City of Launceston’s multistorey car parks—Paterson Street West, Paterson Street East, and Elizabeth Street—will remain open, but normal parking rates will apply on these public holidays.

Additionally:

• The C.H. Smith Car Park will be closed on Good Friday, Easter Monday, Easter Tuesday, and Anzac Day.

• The Paterson Street West Car Park will be closed until 1 PM on Anzac Day to accommodate the Anzac Day Parade.

Motorists should also note that Easter Saturday (April 19) is not a public holiday, and standard parking fees will apply in all on-street and off-street car parks, including council-managed facilities.

The following operating hours will apply to the Paterson Street West Car Park's Parenting Room facility:
