The City of Launceston's annual Heritage Snap photography competition is back for 2022, with the theme 'Young at Heart'.
Now in its ninth year, the Heritage Snap competition is open to school-aged students across Launceston, divided into three sections:
- Primary School
- Years 7 to 10
- Years 11 to 12
Entrants in the Primary School and Year 7 to 10 categories will be in the running for a $250 photographic equipment voucher and a professionally framed print of their winning photo, while a $500 voucher will be up for grabs in the Year 11 to 12 category.
Launceston Mayor Albert van Zetten said he hoped the theme 'Young at Heart' would serve as inspiration for young photographers.
"We encourage you to explore Launceston and use your creativity to photograph the places and buildings that interest you," Mayor van Zetten said.
"We want you to harness your unique perspective to capture a snapshot of our city that embodies that theme of 'Young at Heart'.
"Launceston is a city that has changed, expanded and reinvented itself, but many of our links to the past are evident all around us if we only take a moment to look."
School-aged students who wish to enter are invited to submit a high quality digital photograph and a brief written description, explaining what your subject means to you.
Entries open on Friday, September 23 and close at 4pm on Monday, October 31, and can be submitted via the City of Launceston's website at www.launceston.tas.gov.au.
Judging will be undertaken by an expert panel, including members of the City of Launceston Heritage Advisory Committee, and winners will be announced at a ceremony at Town Hall in November.
