The information below is for warnings, outages and interruptions to key services and facilities operated by City of Launceston.

To report an issue, please use our Report an Issue webform or contact our Customer Service Centre on (03) 6323 3000.

In the case of an emergency, please contact Tasmania Police or dial 000.

Current interruptions

First Basin Track partial closure

A 200m section of the First Basin Track between the Cataract Gorge's Alexandra Suspension Bridge and the Sentinel Lookout has been damaged by bushfire.

The section of track between the Sentinel Lookout and the Duck Reach Power Station is still open and can be accessed via Corin St or Denison Grove.

Cataract Gorge Inclinator maintenance

The Cataract Gorge Inclinator at the First Basin is currently closed while the City of Launceston oversees maintenance and repairs to the machinery.

FOGO collection delays: Various suburbs

Please be advised there may be delays to the collection of FOGO bins in Prospect, Dilston, Lilydale and the Talbot Rd area, which were due for collection this week (Monday March 10 - Friday March 15 2025).

If your FOGO bin was not collected, please leave it on the kerb for collection in coming days.

In some instances, bins may not be collected until Saturday.

Elevator maintenance program

The City of Launceston is undertaking maintenance works on elevators in the Paterson St East and Paterson St West multistorey car parks, commencing on Monday March 3.

Accessible bays will be available on the ground floor of both car parks throughout the duration of works.
