Lilydale Painted Poles

In 2017, Lilydale Arts were able to create a series of painted poles, with a grant from the City of Launceston. The Lilydale Painted Poles depict the people, businesses and activities of the Lilydale community and district.

Members of Lilydale Arts designed and constructed the poles and were assisted in their painting by three professional artists.

Pole 1: Local Businesses
Painted by Ben Miller and volunteers.

Pole 2: Lilydale District Services
Painted by Leanne Hodgetts and volunteers.

Pole 3: Local Organisations

Pole 4: Historical Buildings:

Pole 5: Lilydale Arts

Pole 6: Local Identities

Pole 7: The Environment

Pole 8 Lilydale District High School Students
Designed and painted by students from Grade 6-10, mentored by Ben Miller.

As their final gift to the Lilydale township before closing, Lilydale Arts commissioned Leanne Hodgetts to paint a mural close to the poles on the Village Green in 2022. Members added individual touches to the mural, such as the ten blind mice - see if you can find them.

The painted poles and the mural were conceived as attractions to 'Linger Longer in Lilydale' and we hope this has been achieved.
