Carr Villa current and upcoming site works

Keep up to date on works happening across the site that may impact your visit.

New Water Access for Lawn 10

Works will commence the week of the 16 March 2026 to install new underground water infrastructure in area Lawn 10.

This project will involve the laying of underground pipes alongside the roadway in this section, along with the installation of new taps (water access) to support those visiting and tending to graves in this section.

The installation of water access to this area has been a much-requested improvement from members of our community, and we are pleased to be progressing these works to better support visitors caring for their loved ones’ resting places.

Our team will be working with contractors to carry out the works as efficiently as possible and to minimise disruption wherever we can. However, visitors may notice some temporary activity in the area while the installation takes place.

We apologise for any inconvenience during this time and thank you for your patience as we continue to improve facilities across Carr Villa Memorial Park.

New Lawn Preparation at Carr Villa Memorial Park

In the coming weeks, our Operations Team will begin preparing areas within Carr Villa Memorial Park for new lawn installation. This work will take place in the following locations:

  • Lawn Plaque Cemetery: Section of rows between Violet and Lilium, Sweet Pea and Peony, and Snapdragon and Cherry Blossum.
  • Limited Monumental Cemetery: Rows of Potaroo and Thylacine

To ensure the safety of memorial items and tributes placed on graves, we kindly ask families to remove and safely store these items until the lawn is fully established. If you are unable to visit the site, our team will carefully remove and securely store the items for your collection.

What to Expect During This Process

  1. Ground Preparation
    • Machinery will be used to turn over and level the ground.
    • Please rest assured that this work will not affect the loved ones interred in these areas, even if the ground’s appearance changes temporarily.
    • Topsoil will then be added to prepare for the lawn.
  2. Fencing Installation
    • Fencing will be installed to protect the newly seeded lawn from wildlife, including wallabies and native hens.
    • The fencing will remain in place for approximately 6–8 weeks, depending on lawn growth and establishment.
  3. Lawn Establishment
    • Once the lawn is fully established, the fencing will be removed, and the area will be open for visitation as usual.

We appreciate your understanding and patience during this period of improvement. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact our Client Services Team on 03 6326 3600.

Let's talk before we have to

Let’s talk before we have to is a ten-part blog series by Eve Gibbons, Business Leader at Carr Villa Memorial Park.

Drawing on years of experience in deathcare, Eve gently explores the conversations many families avoid, from burial or cremation decisions to ashes, legacy, and the true cost of not planning.

Each weekly article invites readers to reflect, learn, and begin meaningful discussions with the people who matter most.

This series is not about focusing on death, but about encouraging clarity, kindness, and thoughtful planning as an act of love.

Top 100 Memorial Songs

Music has a unique way of expressing what words alone cannot. It helps us remember, reflect, honour, and feel close to those we have lost.

The Carr Villa Memorial Park Top 100 Memorial Songs has been created through nominations and votes from our community. Each song on this list has been chosen because it holds meaning, a connection to a loved one, a moment, a memory, or a farewell.

This collection brings together songs that span generations, cultures, and musical styles. From hymns and classical pieces to contemporary and Australian favourites, the list reflects the diverse ways people choose to honour life and legacy.

We hope this resource provides comfort, inspiration, and guidance, whether you are:

  • planning a memorial or funeral service
  • selecting music to honour a loved one
  • reflecting quietly during a visit to Carr Villa
  • or simply seeking songs that speak to remembrance and connection

This list is shared as a community resource, and we acknowledge and thank everyone who contributed their nominations. Your participation has helped create something meaningful that will continue to support families now and into the future.

If you would like assistance with service planning or have questions about memorial options at Carr Villa Memorial Park, our team is always here to help.
