Carr Villa Memorial Park Father's Day Memorial Service
Father's Day is a day to celebrate the dads, father figures, and male mentors in our lives.
However, for anyone grieving, separated from, or missing their dad, it can be a very challenging time.
On Friday, August 30, Carr Villa Memorial Park will host a Father's Day Memorial Service at the facility's chapel, inviting members of the Launceston and Northern Tasmanian communities to attend.
The non-religious service will provide an opportunity for attendees to reflect and remember the fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, and father figures who may no longer be with us.
The Carr Villa Memorial Park's Father's Day Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 30, from 10.00am at the facility's chapel, accessed off Quarantine Road.
To register your attendance please call 6323 3600, or email carrvilla@launceston.tas.gov.au.
Tributes - Lawn Plaque and Limited Monumental Cemeteries
Tributes - Lawn Plaque and Limited Monumental Cemeteries
The Carr Villa Memorial Park team would like to thank the community for their assistance over the past 3 weeks in the removal of items within the Lawn Plaque and Limited Monumental Cemeteries that pose a safety risk to visitors, employees, wildlife and pets.
The Carr Villa Team have made their way through these locations and have removed identified items, which included:
-
Glass products, including jars, vases, and bottles, which can easily be broken; and
-
Any tributes that are encroaching onto the lawn, and the concrete beam strip edging the lawn, which will include ceramics, and solar lights.
Our team have stored removed items, which are available for collection until the 23 August 2024.
Following the 23 August, our team will coordinate the process to disposal of any unclaimed items.
What areas of the Cemetery will be affected?
The Lawn Plaque Cemetery and Limited Monumental Cemetery are the locations impacted, due to nature of their design.
Both are situated within lawn area, with either a standardised bronze plaque or headstone on concrete beams marking the interments. Each burial location is provided with a built-in floral vase to allow for a floral tribute (Lawn Plaque) or the headstones incorporate 1-2 floral vases.
What will need to be removed?
To reduce the stress and impact on families, and to minimise distress, we will be adopting the following measured approach by removing the immediate safety risk to the community, employees, and wildlife by enforcing only the following at this time:
- Glass products, including jars, vases, and bottles, which can easily be broken; and
- Any tributes that are encroaching onto the lawn, and the concrete beam strip edging the lawn, which will include ceramics, and solar lights.
As well as the above, it is important we support all family members within the facility, by ensuring all tributes are contained to each individual site.
What if staff remove an item that I wish to keep?
Our team will store all items until the 23 August 2024. Please contact the Carr Villa Office if you believe an item has been removed prior to this date.
Following the 23 August, any unclaimed items will be disposed of.
Why not enforce the full policy?
While we acknowledge that this approach may not fully align with policy regulations, it aims to minimise distress and impact on families, which would be greater under a more rigid enforcement strategy. Additionally, it addresses immediate safety concerns for the community and staff responsible for site maintenance.
Furthermore, this approach allows time for a review of tribute management within the policy framework, enabling consideration of the community's needs and preferences regarding memorialisation.
