Rainwater Tanks
Installation of a rainwater tank may require planning approval and may require a Building Permit.
The overflow of the rainwater tank shall be connected to the properties internal storm water system or discharged in an appropriate way approved by a City of Launceston Plumbing Officer.

If the collected rainwater will be used to supply drinking water commercially, such as at accommodation premises or for health, educational or imprisonment purposes, registration as a private water supplier may be required under the Public Health Act 1997.
If the collected rainwater is to be used by a registered food businesses or suppliers of packaged water or ice, the Food Act 2003 and the associated requirements of food businesses apply.
